FAQ

Frequent questions — without the marketing fog.

How is Memofluent different from Anki / Quizlet / Duolingo? +
Anki is powerful but needs lots of manual work and shows no context. Quizlet — cards without an algorithm. Duolingo — a game, without serious memory. Memofluent: SM-2 spaced repetition + automatic context from real texts + a clean interface with no ads or distracting pings.
Do I need to register to try it? +
Create a free account — it syncs your progress across devices and stores all your decks. Registration takes under a minute: just email and password.
What if my language is not on the list? +
You can create a deck yourself or via "Deck from text". The roadmap has an open vote for the next languages — we add the most requested first. Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Arabic are coming soon.
What about offline mode? +
The web app is a PWA — after the first open the interface and fonts are cached, so repeat visits load instantly. Full offline learning (studying without internet) is coming in the mobile apps — they are offline-first and are being prepared for the App Store and Google Play.
Does word memory really work? +
Spaced repetition is the most researched memorization method, hundreds of papers since 1985 (Hermann Ebbinghaus → SuperMemo). And context is a second memory layer: words seen in a phrase are recalled 2× faster than in isolation.
Who is behind the product? +
A small team — two people, a developer and a linguist. We build it for ourselves first, because we got tired of ads in learning apps. Open roadmap and public changelog.
How much does it cost? +
Free right now — no card, all features. We are still settling the model; waitlist subscribers hear about pricing first, and early users keep generous terms.
Can I practice grammar, not just words? +
Yes — the Grammar mode adds fill-the-blank (any word inside a real sentence) and verb conjugation (for supported languages). It turns your own deck into grammar drills automatically.
Can I build courses and invite students? +
Yes — group decks into a course, invite people by email, and follow each student's progress. Handy for teachers, tutors, or learning together with your family.
Is my data safe? Any ads? +
No ads and no third-party trackers. We never sell your data. Product analytics is pseudonymous and you can switch it off in your profile at any time.
Where do the example sentences come from? +
Real, human-written sentences from the open Tatoeba project (CC BY) — so words live in natural context, not invented examples. We show only sentences that actually contain your word.
